Jimi Hendrix live at the Temple De Hirsch Sinai
We have more music history on Follow the Sound this week. We start out with the legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix playing his first ever gig at Temple De Hirsch Sinai synagogue in Seattle in 1959. Coincidentally, this week in 1969 Jimi played his last UK show with the Jimi Hendrix Experience at the Royal Albert Hall. Also, we discuss Pink Floyd starting their first sessions at the EMI Studios in St. John’s Wood, London on their debut album ‘The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn‘, and Dolly Parton starting a two week run at No.1 on the US charts with ‘9 to 5’. We have a few tragic moments this week, as well, with the death of 100 people after a fire broke out at a Great White show and Andy Warhol dying after a gall bladder operation. Fleetwood Mac won album of the year in 1978 for the album ‘Rumours’ and Norah Jones swept the Grammys in 2003. All this and more on this music history episode of Follow the Sound.
